Animal Adventures!
Is your child excited about going to kindergarten in August? Boost that excitement with a summer packed with educational "Animal Adventures!"
This summer, First Discoveries will offer a VPK Summer Camp that combines our "Get Ready for Kindergarten!" curriculum with our hands-on "Animal Adventures" summer camp. The tuition is completely FREE for 5 year olds entering kindergarten with a VPK certificate (see below).
Children will explore reading, writing, math and science skills as they learn about a wide variety of interesting animals, including:
Native Florida Animals
(alligators, manatees, birds and seaside creatures)
Includes a trip to the Florida Aquarium as well as
On-site visits by the Aquarium and Lowry Park Zoo
Insects, Spiders, and
Other Cool Creatures
Includes a trip to Mosi's Butterfly Garden!
Incredible Dinosaurs
Includes a trip to Dinosaur World
Hands-on experience presentation by The Florida Aquarium:
Amazing Creatures from Florida's Beaches!
Children will explore early reading, writing and math skills through songs, art, games, and small group lessons. On-site presentations by local museums, zoos and aquariums will provide opportunities for children to touch live animals, and field trips to the zoo and aquarium will enrich and extend children's learning. All classes are taught by certified teachers using a Christian-based curriculum.
Tuition for the VPK Summer Camp is completely FREE for eligible children (5 years old on or before Sept. 1st and have not completed a VPK program during the school year). (see below)
There is a $75 fee to cover the on-site presentations and field trips. A limited number of scholarships are available to help defray this cost for some families.

Did not complete a School Year VPK Program
Most children who have attended Head Start, EELP or private preschool/PreK are still eligible! Some children who started a VPK program but did not complete it are still eligible for the summer program.
