Amazing Teachers Make an Amazing School!

First Discoveries was founded in June 2008, with the goal of creating a high-quality early learning program that enhances children's development, supports families, and partners with the local community.  Our first summer, we offered a play-based summer camp program to a dozen enthusiastic preschoolers.  Over the course of our first year, we expanded our program to serve 90 children, from infants through school age children.  Since our humble beginnings, we have always recognized that the quality of our program depends on caring, dedicated staff members who are knowledgeable about early childhood education. We are proud to introduce our staff!

Our toddler teachers understand how important brain development and language development are for one year olds, and they plan daily opportunities for songs, stories and hands-on experiences.  Our one year old curriculum focuses on communication and language development.  Each week the teachers select books and songs that help our little ones learn new ways to communicate, including lots of sign language.  Did you know that teaching sign language reduces frustration for one year olds and actually helps support their verbal communication?

Our Infant teachers ensure a soothing nurturing environment for each individual infant in their care. Infants are offered a variety of activities daily to promote gross motor, fine motor, and cognitive development. Constant parent communication is key to provide a link between home and school offering parents the opportunity to stay involved in every aspect of their child's day. Beginning sign language, story time and sensory play are integrated into infants daily routines.
